Cowlersley couple's gas company apology for heating loss

TWO pensioners were left without heating on three of the coldest days of the year.

Now United Utilities has admitted that Kenneth and Joan Naylor, of Luton Street, Cowlersley, received sub-standard service when work was carried out to replace gas mains.

At the weekend the couple were stuck in their house in sub-zero temperatures, waiting for someone to come round to restore the supply.

A United Utilities spokeswoman said: “We sincerely apologise to Mr and Mrs Naylor for the inconvenience they suffered, especially given the cold weather.

“They did not receive the standard of service we would expect and we are investigating exactly what went wrong.”

The Naylors’ gas was turned off on Thursday morning as work was done in nearby Windsor Road.
