Cowlersley couple's gas company apology for heating loss

The gas was put back on later that day, but it was disconnected on Friday morning.

The couple say they were told they would have gas back on Friday afternoon, but did not see anyone again until Sunday morning.

Mrs Naylor, 73, said: “We’ve been sat here with blankets on and hot water bottles, not wanting to go out in case they came to turn the gas back on.

“We haven’t been able to cook anything or have a shower.

“My husband’s had three heart attacks and pneumonia. He’s not a well man and this hasn’t done him any good.

“It’s not on.”

The couple’s daughter, Helen Howard, from nearby Perseverance Street, said: “It’s disgusting leaving pensioners stuck at home all weekend with no heating and not being able to have a hot meal.

“I know the firm can’t help doing this work, but they shouldn’t have told them they would be back to turn the gas back on.
