‘Patience is running out’ on Gaza situation

DEWSBURY MP and Justice Minister Shahid Malik has said the conflict in Gaza has raised community tensions and created immense anger among British Muslims.

The MP warned: “There is a real feeling of helplessness, hopelessness and powerlessness among Britain’s Muslims in the context of Gaza and the sense of grievance and injustice is both profoundly acute and obviously profoundly unhealthy.”

He added: “It’s crucial we re-double our efforts to communicate with the public about the UK government actions if we are to dent the level of entrenched cynicism that exists, especially among British Muslims.

“Equally, we should be under no illusion that faith and patience in the peace process is running out and it is in our own interests to help deliver a comprehensive peace agreement between Israel and its Arab neighbours.”
