HUDDERSFIELD toddler Sanam Navsarka was allegedly beaten to death suffered 107 injuries in four weeks, a court heard yesterday.
Two-year-old Sanam Navsarka died last May 8 from complications resulting from untreated fractures to her legs which were sustained at her Sheepridge home, a jury was told.
Opening the prosecution case at Bradford Crown Court Julian Goose QC said the little girl had died from “really serious injuries, deliberately inflicted” by her mother and her partner. Injuries included multiple fractures to her arms.
Mother Zahbeena Navsarka and Subhan Anwar, both 21, of Riddings Road, deny murder.
Anwar also denies causing or allowing the death of a child.
Navsarka yesterday admitted an alternative charge of failing to protect her daughter.
But Mr Goose told the jury Navsarka and Anwar were both responsible for Sanam’s murder.
He added: “At the very least failing to get help, or remove a two-year-old child from the source of violence over a four-week period, whichever of the defendants it was, when she was being repeatedly injured and her arms and legs broken was encouragement, approval and a readiness for the violence to continue.”
