Views sought on Golcar revamp

RESIDENTS and business owners are invited to have their say on plans to revamp Golcar village.

The £450,000 scheme aims to improve road safety and street furniture on Town End, upgrade Jubilee Square and create more parking spaces.

Grants of up to £5,000 are available for businesses to make improvements to their premises.

Plans can be viewed and opinions voiced by visiting Golcar Library until January 24.

Staff will be on hand to answer questions today (4-7pm) and on Saturday (10am-noon)

Golcar councillor Andrew Marchington said: “This will be an important investment in Town End making it safer and more attractive for everyone who goes there.

“We are looking forward to hearing local people’s views.”

Kirklees Council will consider the proposal after the public consultation ends on January 24.

Building work could start in summer if the plans are approved.

For further information call Kirklees Council on: 01484 225615, 222 066 or 221 624/5.
