Reggie the terrier raises alarm after woman’s fall

MOVE over Lassie – meet Reggie.

The two-year-old Cairn terrier proved he was woman’s best friend when he came to his next door neighbour’s rescue.

He started barking when he heard her cries for help in the middle of the night.

Reggie’s alarm call alerted his owner, Simon Wright, who was fast asleep upstairs at his home in Giles Street, Netherthong.

Mr Wright discovered the woman, who he knows only as Beth, had fallen down a full flight of stairs and called an ambulance.

He said: “She couldn’t move at all.

“The ambulance came and took her to hospital.

“I think Reggie could tell she was distressed – he wouldn’t stop barking and wouldn’t come upstairs until I came to see what was going on.
