A FIRM has been fined £6,000 for polluting a country stream.
Peter Duffy Ltd admitted clogging Mag Brook at Honley with silt last February after muddy water was pumped off a building site.
The company, of Lofthouse Gate, near Wakefield, was fined £6,000 and ordered to pay £1,847.17 costs.
Huddersfield Magistrates heard that it had been fined £4,000 for a similar offence in February, 2006.
Craig Burman, for the Environment Agency, said it received a report of pollution in Mag Brook on February 22 last year. Officers saw the stream was silty and a coffee brown colour.
They traced the pollution upstream to a pipe discharging into a tributary of Mag Brook.
