Marauding sheep back in Marsden despite being baa-ed!

Sheep at Marsden

MARAUDING sheep have returned to Marsden.

The Colne Valley village has once again been invaded from the moors.

Sheep have come down to Marsden in the last two weeks looking for food.

In the past sheep have been known to clamber over cattle grids to get into the village.

Dorothy Lindley, of Marsden Enhancement Society, is not pleased to see the woolly visitors back.

Mrs Lindley, who lives on Station Road, said: “I saw five or six of them walk past the back of my house on Wednesday.

“If you leave your gate open they will get in your garden and start rummaging round for food.

“They’re a nuisance. They can devastate gardens which people have spent a lot of time working on.”

Mrs Lindley also said the sheep were a hazard to drivers.

She added: “There have been so many near-misses on Manchester Road. With all the frost on the roads drivers don’t need to be worrying about sheep as well.

“They also make a right mess of the cricket pitch. I’m going to get in touch with the National Farmers’ Union to see what can be done.”
