Widow endures the freeze as heating engineers keep calling
Pat Burnham, building works manager for Kirklees Council’s building services, said: “We are very sorry that Mrs Ewers has had problems with her heating and sincerely apologise for the distress and inconvenience this has caused her.
“Unfortunately, the problem with her boiler was intermittent, so heating engineers weren’t able to diagnose what was wrong at first because the fault wasn’t always present.
“Even the fix advised by the boiler manufacturers didn’t work and it took several visits to finally resolve the problem.”
Mrs Ewers had been given temporary heaters, but the boiler was now working.
“However, in light of what happened with the boiler, we are reviewing our training, stocks of spares and computer reporting systems to improve our response in the future,” he said.
