The cupboard where Sanam was put
THE NEIGHBOUR of Sanam Navsarka's mum told a court she had seen the two-year-old locked in a cupboard by her mother’s boyfriend.
Rosie McGlade told Bradford Crown Court on the fourth day of the trial: “I seen him (Subhan Anwar) put her in the cupboard for crying.
“I also saw him put her on the window sill – she was there for about five minutes and he was stood in front of her, but I thought it was dangerous because all she had to do was move and she’d fall (approx 1.5m).
“She never liked him, she was always screaming when she had to go to him.
“He once said he wanted to swap her for my little girl... he used to call Sanam a bastard.”
Miss McGlade befriended Zahbeena Navsarka and her partner Anwar when they moved into the house next door to her at Deighton.
She ran to help when Anwar told her little Sanam had drowned in the bath.
The mother-of-one said Navsarka was shaken but did not appear “desperate” to help the toddler as she lay on the concrete floor of her back garden.
