And she told the jury of a series of events between Anwar, nicknamed ‘Subby’, and little Sanam.

Miss McGlade, of Riddings Road, said Sanam had bowed legs but could run around and play with her own daughter.

While changing Sanam’s nappy, she noticed a cut of around two inches on the toddlers groin.

Miss McGlade said that Navsarka and Anwar, both 21, left Sanam at home while they went to a party at her house and had to be told to bring the tot with them.

And she told the jury that they took Sanam to an Ann Summers party but quickly left.

On Thursday May 8 Miss McGlade saw Sanam seated in a chair outside.

She added: “Normally she would run over to us but she didn’t do – she just turned her head away.”

At that point she noticed a large, blue bruise on the toddler’s cheek.
