The campaign aimed to raise awareness of the need for more bone marrow donors and to try and get education about the issue in schools.
Blog fans watched as his campaign led to a meeting with Prime Minister Gordon Brown and a promise by ministers to launch a scheme aimed at raising awareness of bone marrow donation among school and college pupils.
The blog also won Examiner reporter Adrian a host of awards, including the Multi-Media Journalist of the Year title at the prestigious Press Gazette Awards.
He was also named winner at last year’s Yorkshire Press Awards, posthumously scooping the Yorkshire Journalist of the Year.
Through the blog, Adrian’s family, friends and supporters have continued to co-ordinate the campaign following his death.
Thanks to the campaign, a Government-funded pilot scheme is due to start in the coming months, involving volunteer speakers being trained to go into schools and colleges to talk about bone marrow donation.
Cash from Sign Up For Sudders has also been given to the charities Leukaemia Research and the Anthony Nolan Trust, which runs one of two UK donor registers.
