Fire engine and Wakefield Road crash tragedies: victims named

TWO men killed in separate road tragedies have been identified.

Robert Senior suffered severe head injuries when he was one of three people knocked down by a fire engine at a crossing at Lockwood Road, Lockwood, on Saturday, January 10.

Police have also released the name of a young driver killed in a crash near the National Coal Mining Museum, at Overton, near Flockton, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He was 20-year-old James Mulholland, of Horbury.

In the accident which claimed the life of Mr Senior, 37, the fire engine involved was responding to reports of people trapped in a house fire in Lockwood.

Mr Senior had special needs and lived in Lindley with his family.

He had been having respite care at North House, a residential home for adults with learning disabilities, at Swan Lane in Lockwood.

A 21-year-old woman who was also having respite care there was slightly hurt, along with their carer, a Dewsbury woman aged 51.
