Killer’s appeal possible

KILLER Steve Wright will find out next month if he can appeal against his conviction for murdering five prostitutes – including a former Huddersfield woman.
The Royal Courts of Justice (RCJ) confirmed the news yesterday.
The 50-year-old, from Ipswich, Suffolk, was found guilty of killing the women in February last year following a trial at Ipswich Crown Court.
A spokeswoman for the RCJ confirmed that Wright’s case would be considered by three judges in a public hearing on February 24.
A spokesman for Suffolk Crown Prosecution Service said Wright had applied for leave to appeal.
Wright murdered the women over a six-week period between October and December, 2006.
Their bodies were found dumped at isolated spots around Ipswich between December 2 and December 12, 2006.
His victims included former Primrose Hill prostitute Anneli Alderton, 24, the mother of a young boy. The others were Tania Nicol, 19, Gemma Adams, 25, Paula Clennell, 24, and Annette Nicholls, 29, who all disappeared after working in the town’s red light district.
Wright was told he would spend the rest of his life behind bars after jurors returned unanimous guilty verdicts on the five counts of murder.
