Lottery grants awarded

FOUR local groups have benefited from lottery funding in the latest small grants scheme administered by the Big Lottery Fund.

Under the Awards for All programme, amounts between £300 and £10,000 are granted to grass-roots and voluntary organisations.

Among the groups to benefit are Dewsbury’s 96 Squadron Air Training Corps (£8,930), Shelley’s Community Association (£10,000) and Huddersfield’s community samba band the Slick Stick Sambastic (£3,753).

A charity called Remap Leeds and Bradford which designs and produces customised equipment for disabled people has been awarded £5,555.

It plans to use the money to increase awareness of their products for the people that need them and to encourage more volunteers to aid their cause.

Caroline James, the fund’s head in Yorkshire, said: “The latest round of awards will see countless tremendous initiatives reach their goals for the benefit of everyone in the community.”
