Wild cheering at historic party night

THE historic night when Barack Obama was sworn in as US President was celebrated across the world – including Huddersfield.
Dozens gathered at the Deighton Centre for an inauguration party, marking the moment Mr Obama became the first African-American to hold the office of the most powerful leader in the world.
The event at the centre was organised by the Huddersfield-based Parents of Black Children Association, in conjunction with the centre managers.
And there was wild cheering as the guests watched the swearing-in ceremony.
There were also party scenes later in the evening at an event hosted at The Parish in Kirkgate.
