FREEMASONS have given cash to a charity which helps deprived people throughout Kirklees.

Brook Masonic Lodge in Kirkburton gave £500 to The Welcome Centre at Huddersfield Methodist Mission on Lord Street.

The lodge applied to the Freemasons Provincial Grandmaster’s Fund for the money on The Welcome Centre’s behalf.

It will be used to buy a new fridge and computer printer and help to rearrange the food store.

The Welcome Centre is urging people to give items such as food, clothing, toiletries and toys to help needy individuals and families through tough times.

All those helped are in crisis and include homeless people, those fleeing violence, people with mental health, drug or alcohol problems, refugees or asylum seekers, families struggling with debt and vulnerable young people.
