Jan 27 2009 by Neil Atkinson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
A WOMAN escaped with minor injuries after her car crashed off a moorland road near Marsden.
Rescuers were amazed to find her standing beside the overturned car after it careered through a fence and into a 25-foot gully off Manchester Road at Standedge yesterday.
Graham Holroyd, Watch Manager at Slaithwaite fire station, said: “She was very, very lucky”.
Fire crews from Slaithwaite, Marsden and Huddersfield were all called to the scene after other drivers saw the woman skid off the road, through a fence and on to the moors.
She was given first aid by firefighters and taken to hospital with head and hip injuries by paramedics.
Mr Holroyd said the road was icy at the time of the accident.
