HUDDERSFIELD MP Barry Sheerman has blasted a government report which predicts poor adult literacy and numeracy will continue well into the future.
The report, from the Commons public accounts committee, forecasts an “unacceptably high” number of adults will still be unable to read, write or add up, despite billions of pounds being spent.
Mr Sheerman, chairman of the schools select committee, criticised the report saying it was a “thin piece of work” based on little evidence.
