Mirfield 25 fight goes on

RESIDENTS have been urged to keep fighting a huge development on the road between Huddersfield and Leeds.
Developer Park Crescent wants to build offices, manufacturing units and a retirement village for 344 people on land next to the busy A62 in Mirfield.
The Mirfield 25 proposal, which would create 900 jobs, got the go-ahead from Kirklees Council’s Heavy Woollen Planning Sub-committee last month.
But the decision must now be backed by the council’s Planning and Highways Committee when it meets on Monday.
Tim Conolly, who lives on Primrose Lane, urged Mirfield residents to go to the meeting and object to the plan.
He said: “This is the next round in the battle for Mirfield Moor. The developer will be there to tell the councillors what we should get, but people can turn up and tell the committee what they think.”
Mr Conolly said the development would cause problems on the A62.
