Lockwood gran missing for two days

CONCERNS are growing for a Lockwood grandmother who has now been missing for more than two days.

The family of Dorothy Ann Colam-Ainsworth – known as Ann – was today anxiously awaiting news of the 64-year-old who has not been seen since 6am on Thursday.

More than 40 police officers and about 30 mountain rescuers have been scouring the area around her Meltham Road home for clues as to her whereabouts.

Her husband raised the alarm after he got up to find the mother-of-two gone without taking any personal belongings such as her purse or a phone.

Yesterday the search focused on beauty spots including Beaumont Park, Magdale and woods near Honley – areas where keen walker Ann was known to visit regularly.

But after a night of freezing temperatures, fears for her safety were mounting.

Insp Jonathan Dunkerley, who is leading the hunt, said: “We are extremely concerned for her welfare.

“She is vulnerable by the means of her age and this is very out of character for her. She has never been missing before.

“She was not adverse to going out walking and was very fluent with the local area. She is very fit and active.

“At the moment we are no nearer but we are actively searching local haunts and beauty spots where we know she enjoys going.

“We are therefore urging people around the Big Valley, Magdale and Beaumont Park areas who may be out walking or have out houses or barns to be very mindful of her.”
