A MIRFIELD man has won support in his bid to change the status of a footpath to a bridleway. Barry Sullivan appealed for riders using the path – between Newhall Farm and Brier Knowl Farm – to come forward. His campaign began when Kirklees Council installed a ‘kissing gate’ following local residents’ complaints of horseriders and motorcyclists using the narrow path leaving little room for walkers. It will be at least a year until the case goes before the highways committee, but the gate has recently been removed and the path widened. Read
