Brighouse dad plans charity bike ride for Leukaemia Research

A DAD will take part in a poignant charity bike ride.

Steve Tipton, of Brighouse, lost his daughter Carrie at the age of 28.

Now he will join others in the 13th Clumber Park Bikeathon on May 18 and will cycle in support of Leukaemia Research, the charity dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

Steve, 56, works as a technician at Ling Bob JI&N School in Halifax.

Carrie Tipton died in June 2006 after 18 months of treatment at Leeds General Infirmary.

Steve said: “Carrie is loved and missed so much.

“Raising money for Leukaemia Research in her memory will help treat and possibly prevent other people that suffer from this disease.

“If everyone raises sponsorship money together we will be able to make a difference to the lives of those affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood cancers."

Steve and his wife Glenda have also set up a Forget Me Not Fund in Carrie’s name to which friends and family contribute at Christmas and birthdays.
