Fire at Richmond flats in Huddersfield town centre

A FIRE damaged a flat on the fourth floor of Richmond flats in Huddersfield town centre.

Two crews from Huddersfield fire station and the aerial appliance attended the scene just after 6.30am yesterday morning.

The male occupant of the flat had left the premises by the time fire crews had arrived.

The rest of the building did not have to be evacuated as the fire was contained.

An elderly man had to led from his home in Sycamore Grange, Golcar just after 11pm on Monday night.

A small fire had started but was out when fire crews arrived.
