Leave our nursery alone say Denby Dale parents

WORRIED parents told councillors – leave our nursery alone.
They demanded yesterday that Kirklees Council scrap plans to close or privatise Denby Dale Nursery School.
Marla Cousin, whose daughter goes to the school, asked the council’s cabinet not to go ahead with the plan.
She said: “We’ve collected 1,000 signatures so far opposing this. The whole community values and cherishes the nursery.”
Kirklees Council began to review the Wakefield Road nursery facilities last year when the former headteacher announced she was leaving.
Council officials have drawn up four choices:
Option A is for little or no change.
Option B would lead to the school maintaining or taking control of the children’s centre – so far the most favoured by the governors.
Option C would be to de-establish the school and put the facilities out to tender. It could mean a private enterprise could take over or the governors or a group of parents.
