Retro computer games show to hit Huddersfield
Apr 2 2009 By Dave Himelfield
CLASSIC games galore are set to invade Huddersfield in what promises to be the country’s biggest exhibition of old school computer entertainment.
“Retro Reunited” comes to Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, on September 12 and 13.
The event, which will raise cash for homeless charity Shelter, promises up to 50 retro games consoles and computers from 1977 to the present day.
Much loved systems such as the Commodore Amiga and original Atari console will sit alongside an old school coin-op arcade offering free plays.
Rare games systems, which failed to catch on, will also be granted a temporary reprieve from obscurity.
Guests for the event may also include ZX Spectrum programmer Jon Ritman and Ocean Software head Gary Bracey who will discuss their memories of the days when computer games were written in bedrooms for little or no profit.
