THE factory at the centre of a fatal gas blast will stay sealed off all weekend.

Police said their investigations into the tragic death of a worker at the Andrew Jones Pies factory in Old Leeds Road, Huddersfield, "will take several days".

One man died, another was seriously hurt and five others suffered injuries when the blast rocked the plant early today.

The dead man is 38 years old and thought to come from Halifax, the badly injured man is 23 and from Crosland Moor.

Fire crews are still working at the scene.

They have been joined by structural engineers to try and make safe the damaged building.

The badly-injured worker has been transferred to Leeds General Infirmary.

The explosion wrecked the Andrew Jones Pies factory in Old Leeds Road early this morning and police confirmed shortly before 11am that one person had died as the brick-built building was shattered by the blast.
