Grandad's gas woes at big bills bungle
Apr 13 2009 Huddersfield Daily Examiner
THEY sent him a £1,500 bill for gas he’d never used, apologised for their error and promised never to send him any more letters.
But now British Gas have sent Phillip Wood, 61, from Fartown, another bill for more than £1,700.
Mr Wood, a yarn buyer, received a letter welcoming him to British Gas – together with a bill for £1,568.86 for three-and-a-half years’ gas – on March 7.
But grandfather Phil had always bought his gas from Npower since he moved to the flat over three-and-a-half years ago.
After the Examiner contacted British Gas the company admitted Mr Wood was not their customer and he owed them nothing.
