Actor Patrick Stewart extends University role
ACTOR Patrick Stewart has taken on another demanding role.
He has agreed a second term as chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, the organisation’s leading figurehead.
Since becoming Chancellor in 2004, the Star Trek star has attended key university events.
He was made a professor last summer, and regularly teaches masters classes for drama students when he visits the University.
The star also featured in a high-proilfe TV advertising campaign for the University, which was a first in the higher education field.
Prof Stewart said:“I had absolutely no hesitation in agreeing to a second term of office as Chancellor of the University.
“During my first five years in post I have been inspired, and at times humbled, by the achievements of our students.
