TV comedian Paul Merton hits Huddersfield this weekend.
And he will be bringing with him a host of famous film stars.
Merton plans to introduce a series of old silent comedy films in town this weekend.
The star, famous for shows Have I Got News For You, and Room 101, will talk about film favourites such as Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, at the Lawrence Batley Theatre.
Merton said: “I love silent films. What I love above all is their concentration on the visual.
“The stars of those films – Keaton, Chaplin, Lloyd, Laurel and Hardy, were totally committed to their work.
“They were brilliant physical performers, who were perfect for silent films.
“Keaton made two films a year for a producer who let him do whatever he wanted. He had a creative freedom that filmmakers never get nowadays.”
The movies will be projected on the large screen at the Queen Street theatre with live accompaniment from world-renowned pianist Neil Brand.
