HUNDREDS of children left lessons to become world record breakers.
The children at Netherthong Primary School were among thousands of children throughout the UK aiming to break the Guinness World Record skipping attempt.
Across town children at Rowley Lane in Lepton also took part in the skipping record breaker.
And they did it, with 18,896 taking part across the UK.
The children lined up in their school playgrounds and skipped constantly for three minutes to become record breakers.
And the Netherthong children even raised £350 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool after gaining sponsorship.
Daisy Charalambous, PTA member, said: “The children were very enthusiastic about it, some of them were a little nervous but they had been practising during the school holiday.
“The idea helped to bring the children together but also in buying the skipping ropes we have raised £350 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital which is just fantastic.”
More than 150 Netherthong children took part in the skipping challenge as part of the UK-wide event.
The older Key Stage Two children were led by expert skipper Gwyneth Franklin, also the year three teacher.
Seven-year-old Lucy Wilding said: “I really enjoyed it, it was fun to do.
