Double delight for Brockholes couple at HRI’s birth centre

A BROCKHOLES family is celebrating the birth of two sons in just over a year at Huddersfield’s birth centre.
History repeated itself for Liz Joy and partner Kevin Girdlestone when they found themselves at the Infirmary’s new unit for the SECOND time in just over 12 months.
The couple – who already have two sons Ronnie, three, and one-year-old Frankie – were there for the birth of Teddie at 8.30am on April 26.
Little Teddie was born just one year and 11 days apart from brother Frankie, in April last year.
Mum Liz always hoped she’d give birth at the midwife-led unit again.
But she wasn’t expecting it to be quite so soon.
She said: “We were adamant that after Frankie was born we wanted to have our next baby at the Birth Centre as it had been such a lovely experience for us.
“What we didn’t expect was to be back here quite so soon!
“But again it has been tremendous. Teddie came very quickly, yet we were all very relaxed thanks to the midwives.
“What also makes it special is that his dad gets to stay over with us and be involved so much all the way through.”
