Football violence at station

HUDDERSFIELD Town fans clashed with Leeds United supporters in a railway station brawl.
The rival fans were involved in a disturbance at Wakefield Westgate station as they travelled back from their respective games on the final day of the League One season on Saturday.
Town’s fans had been at the 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient at the London club’s Brisbane Road ground in East London.
The Leeds supporters had watched their side beat Northampton 3-0 at Elland Road.
It is believed the two sets of fans clashed after Town’s contingent got off the train in Wakefield at about 10.30pm.
Marcus Middleton, of the Town Supporters’ Club, had not been at the game but was told of the trouble.
He said: “As far as I understand it, there were about 40 Town fans who had been drinking through most of the day.
“When they got to Wakefield, the Leeds fans were there.”
He said it was not an organised fight and claimed the Town supporters had been the unsuspecting victims of an attack.
Police were called to the station.
It is not believed anyone was seriously hurt.
