Jail for Fartown man on drugs charges

A WOULD-BE drug dealer from Huddersfield is behind bars – after being spotted with a gun.

Vesmir Duric, a 23-year-old Bosnian, who planned to sell cocaine to ease his financial problems has been jailed for two years at Bradford Crown Court.

Duric, of Aquamarine Drive, Fartown, was arrested in the Pellon area of Halifax last July by police officers responding to a call about a gun being seen in a car.

Duric, who had no previous convictions, was arrested from a nearby house and when officers later searched his car and home they recovered 22 separate bags of cocaine worth £380.

Prosecutor Paul Nicholson said police also found scales, £204 in cash, a knife and an imitation handgun in the car.

Duric told police he had bought the knife and imitation gun the day before and had left them in the car while he visited his girlfriend.

He pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply, possessing a bladed article and an imitation firearm and possessing criminal property.

Barrister Jeremy Hill-Baker, for Duric, said he was the sole carer for his mother who was in poor health and at the time of the offences his income had been halved due to the economic situation.
