Police warning on ‘Aladdin’s cave’ of car crime

DRIVERS have been warned not to leave valuables on show in their cars following an alarming spate of break-ins in Huddersfield.

Police say the list of items pinched from vehicles in the past few days reads like an “Aladdin’s cave” of goods.

On Monday and Tuesday last week, five cars in Golcar and four in Dalton were targeted.

Then, in 48 hours on Wednesday and Thursday nights 13 break-ins were reported in the Birkby and Fartown areas.

Among the items taken were satellite navigation systems, laptop computers, a games console, CD players, leather jackets and a digital camera.

“It’s like an Aladdin’s cave of stuff,” said Det Insp Phil Benson.
