Police warning on ‘Aladdin’s cave’ of car crime
May 11 2009 by Sam Casey, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
Det Insp Benson said Kirklees police had actually seen a reduction in car crime in April compared to the same month last year.
There were 65 fewer offences than during the same period in 2008.
This year police have arrested four people for breaking into a ‘capture car’ – a vehicle rigged by officers to trap offenders.
But Det Insp Benson said some car owners had failed to heed the warnings.
“People need to be vigilant,” he said.
“Property on display is an open invitation. If you leave valuables on show, you might as well smash your own window,” he added.
