March to bring back maternity service to Huddersfield

Alanna, who is pregnant again, said: “We’re calling the event 37,000 feet for two little feet.

“We are trying to keep the issue in the public eye, it’s the only way to keep the pressure up.

“We are still angry about what happened to us and we want to try to make them see that the decision was wrong.

“We’ll be walking the equivalent distance of pregnant mums having to be transferred from HRI to Calderdale.

“It’s a way of illustrating just how far you have to go if there’s an emergency.”

A MOMS group set up on the social networking website Facebook has more than 6,300 members and a petition launched on the 10 Downing Street website has been signed by more than 2,000 people.

About 50 people attended a vigil for Maisie held outside HRI in January.

Walkers for Sunday’s event will meet at the entrance to the park at the junction of Trinity Street and Park Avenue at 11am.

There will be face painting for children. Everyone is welcome.
