Families take up Examiner Charity Challenge
CHARLOTTE Jones dotes on her little sister Sarah.
So when her family decided to take part in this Sunday’s Examiner Charity Challenge, she jumped at the chance to do something to help her.
Charlotte, seven, dad Simon and mum Elisabeth are taking on the four-mile walk on Sunday to raise cash for the special needs unit at Moldgreen Primary School.
Sarah, five, is autistic and is a pupil of the school. Thanks to the staff there she has made huge progress and Charlotte and her family, of Ravensknowle Road, Moldgreen, are taking part in the fundraiser as a thank-you.
So far Charlotte has raised £150, through money donated by Simon’s colleagues at Ellis Furniture in Moldgreen.
He said: “She’s really looking forward to it, she’ll leap the four miles! Charlotte’s a proper big sister to Sarah, they’re inseparable.
“And this is a nice way of giving something back to the school. The staff are fantastic and I can’t praise them enough – it’s more than just a job to them.”
Charlotte will be just one of hundreds of people taking part in the challenge on Sunday.
There will be routes for all ages and abilities, including the two-mile pushchair and wheelchair route at Blackmoorfoot Reservoir. Walking, cycling and horse riding events take place from Meltham Sports and Community Centre at Mean Lane.
