Police name two M62 killer crash victims

POLICE still want to talk to witnesses of the horror M62 smash that left two men dead.

The two who died in Tuesday morning’s incident have been named as Leeds men Peter Zanetti, 56, and Michael Zanetti, 55.

They were killed when a Ford Ivego lorry travelling eastbound went through the central reservation at about 6.30am and ploughed into their Fiat Ducato between junctions 27 and 28.

Four other vehicles – a Ford Iveco Daily, a mobile crane, a Fiat Scudo and a Subaru Imprezza – were also involved in the collision.

The 50-year old Halifax man who was driving the lorry was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries.

He is in a critical condition.

Two Leeds men who were also in the Fiat Ducato are also in a stable condition at LGI after sustaining serious injuries.

The incident caused tailbacks stretching to Huddersfield and the M62 was closed until about 8pm on Tuesday. It was not fully reopened by the Highways Agency until 7am yesterday.
