Paddock fire woman in critical condition

RELATIVES of fire victim Anne Vaseer have gathered round her hospital bed.
The 71-year-old was dramatically rescued from her burning home on Beech Street in Paddock on Tuesday.
But the retired midwife – who delivered more than 1,000 babies in her Huddersfield career – is in a critical condition in Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.
Her daughter Janette Ramshaw told the Examiner yesterday: “My mum is very, very poorly. She has 55% burns and has a massive third degree burn on her right leg.
“She’s sedated at the moment. My mum is a very strong-willed person and that’s one thing that could help her.”
Anne – who is a widow with two daughters, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren – has been joined by relatives at the hospital.
She was seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon when her terraced house on Beech Street was engulfed by flames.
Neighbour Israr Latif, 25, kicked in the door allowing Anne to be rescued.
Janette said: “I went round to his house on Wednesday morning to thank him but unfortunately he wasn’t in. I’ll go back later. We’re very grateful to him because he’s given her a chance.”
