WEST Yorkshire Police today launched their summer campaign to curb drink driving.
They are telling people who are tempted to get behind the wheel after a drink: “It’s just not worth it.”
From today any motorists involved in a collision will be breathalysed as a matter of course.
Insp Joanne Field, head of the roads policing unit, said: “We can't reiterate the importance of not drinking and driving enough.
“What may seem like a perfectly reasonable idea at the time can have tragic consequences for a driver in terms of arrests and further police action, not to mention the impact this will have on their work and family life.
“In the worst case scenarios a driver’s family and friends and the families and friends of people who lose loved ones will also be dealt a massive blow.
“Just don’t drink and drive, it simply isn't worth it.”
As part of the summer anti-drink and drug driving campaign, the police have teamed up with students from Leeds Metropolitan university for an animated film on the dangers of drink driving.
In a mix of computer graphics and real footage, the film Drink Driver Two shows a man drinking at a bar before going to play a driving simulator.
