Help sort for Meltham Gala
Jun 1 2009 Huddersfield Daily Examiner
MELTHAM will be abuzz with colours and sounds next weekend as the village’s long-standing gala returns.
Broadlands Rec will once again play host to the annual Meltham Gala on June 7 (noon to 5pm).
And the gala committee is looking for your help to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever.
So far the festival includes a fairground, donkey and a chip pan fire display by West Yorkshire Fire Service.
The event features stalls, bouncy castle and specialist games such as flipper races, egg throwing and welly wanging.
Contests will also be held in flower arranging, painting and decorating plant pots.
A raffle in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance will also take place.
Gala secretary Kevin Harrison said: “The event relies on volunteers. Anyone who wants to come to us with an idea is welcome. We’ll try anything.
“We need people to run stalls and sell tickets for the Air Ambulance raffle on the day, even if it’s just for a couple of hours.”
