Huddersfield health project nominated for award

A PROJECT which saw top TV chef James Martin work with Huddersfield students is in line for an award.

Health staff are celebrating making it to the final of a top health award for their work with local young people.

The Communicating Health Awards recognise excellence in all forms of communication in the NHS and health and social care sector throughout the UK.

The team has been shortlisted in the Best Social Marketing Campaign category and will find out later this month if their ‘Up for It’ campaign is a winner at a glittering event to be held in Cardiff.

Judith Hooper, director of public health for NHS Kirklees and Kirklees Council, said: “It is fantastic to see that the dedication and hard work of our staff has been recognised at a national level.”

‘Up for It’ aims to encourage students between 16 and 24 years old in Kirklees to take part in more physical activity and to eat more healthily. Some of the work the team has already done with young people in the area includes 2,000 starter packs distributed at the University of Huddersfield freshers’ fayre.
