Action call on Huddersfield bus service cuts

Mr Hemingway said: “The bus companies are claiming that they need to cut or axe some services to make others viable, but First, the main provider in most of our region, increased its profits last year.
“Many people commented that fares went up when fuel prices rose, but did not come down when the price fell again”.
First is planning sweeping changes across the Kirklees area, with some services completely withdrawn and others cut back considerably. Arriva and Centrebus are also planning changes.
A summit meeting between bosses from the passenger transport authority Metro and bus company chiefs is due to take place at Huddersfield Town Hall on Thursday afternoon.
