Care home worker jailed after sex attack on pensioner

A CARE home worker has been locked up for 30 months after sexually violating a mentally disabled pensioner.

Andrew Houghton, 34, sexually abused a 67-year-old woman at a south Huddersfield care home.

And he went to jail with a judge telling him: “I wish I could have locked you up for longer”.

Judge Roger Scott told Houghton his sentence was “extraordinarly lenient” and that he wanted to lock him up for far longer.

He said: “You knew her well, you knew how vulnerable she was and yet you embarked upon this incident quite deliberately.

“It’s a huge huge breach of trust, trust to her and trust to your employer. The results are self evident

“This offence qualifies for an extended sentence but I’m satisfied that you will not offend again.”

Judge Scott said he thought the sentence should have been two or three years longer.

Bradford Crown Court heard the woman suffered from mild learning difficulties and had lived at the home for for many years.
