Witness appeal after horse accident
Jun 2 2009 Huddersfield Daily Examiner
POLICE have made a new appeal about a serious accident involving a horse-drawn carriage.
Two women were hurt when the horses pulling their carriage bolted at Greetland on Sunday.
The carriage was travelling along Moor Bottom Road towards Rochdale Road when for reasons unknown the horses bolted, continuing over the junction with Rochdale Road, clearing a set of steel railings and jumping over a wall.
The horses and carriage then fell down a ravine, falling approximately 20 feet.
One horse fell to the ground below, but the second – and the carriage – became tangled in trees.
The driver and passenger were thrown from the carriage.
The driver, a 65-year old woman from Liversedge, suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.
