East Street to be dug up as well as Halifax Road

It was agreed that it was better to carry out the work in tandem with the current project on Halifax Road rather than returning to the area at a later date.
"Old metal gas pipe will be replaced with modern plastic pipe on a 90m section of East Street where it meets Halifax Road.
"The work will take approximately two weeks and starts on Monday, June 8.
"It is expected to be completed within the original 13 week timescale allowed for the mains replacement job on Halifax Road".
Mark Chapman United Utilities Operations Manager said: "We would like to apologise for any inconvenience our work presents but it is essential to the continued safety of the gas supply.
"We made the decision to carry out the works in tandem to avoid coming back in the future and closing the road again, an option which we felt was unacceptable.
"We would like to thank residents and traders for their continued support and understanding."
