KFC parking fine cancelled after campaign

A MUM slapped with a £75 parking ticket during a visit to KFC has had her money refunded.
But Linda Bedford has vowed never to return to the Leeds Road branch, where she was fined for staying too long as she enjoyed a meal with her son.
She said: "I am delighted to get the money back but I won’t be going back there.
"I wasn’t treated right as a customer and the policy is ridiculous– eating is a leisurely activity."
The Golcar mum and her 17-year-old son were having dinner at the Leeds Road KFC on March 19.
A regular customer at the branch, Mrs Bedford was unaware of any parking rules and stunned when she was sent a parking ticket through the post.
She was slapped with a ticket because she had parked there longer than the 75 minutes time limit.
Mrs Bedford was shocked and upset by the £75 fine, issued by Civil Enforcement Ltd.
She paid the fine, but appealed it and brought her story to the Examiner to highlight the issue among other customers.
Days after her appeal, Mrs Bedford received a cheque from the car parking company.
She said: "I’m absolutely delighted. I paid at first but then decided to send another letter saying my fine should be cancelled. A few days after this letter I received a cheque for the £75.
"I think being in the paper made a real difference to pushing the company to rethink the fine and I really appreciate that."
