Sergeant Forrest said: “Often landlords are unaware of what’s going on, but if they have suspicions about tenants who always pay in cash and never allow them inside their properties, I would ask them to contact us to let us check it out.

“By working together we can help to kick cannabis out of our communities, and by reporting the tell-tale signs you can help to do that.”

Ways of spotting a cannabis factory include unusual activity such as people coming and going delivering fertiliser and equipment.

Lights are regularly left on and curtains will always be drawn.

There may also be a strong smell coming from the house.
