London Marathon runner ready to boost West Yorkshire Firget Me Not Trust in Hepworth Driad
A COMPETITOR in this year’s London Marathon has signed up for a less strenuous race – to raise cash for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.
Matthew Pierson, who runs sports shop Up and Running at Brook Street in Huddersfield town centre, finished the London Marathon in a highly commendable 23rd place. More than 36,000 people took part in the gruelling event.
Now he is setting his sights on tackling the five-mile Hepworth Dryad, which takes place on Sunday, June 28.
He will be joined by colleague Mark Buckingham on the run, which gets under way at Foster Place, Hepworth.
The duo have pledged to raise cash for the Forget Me Not Trust, which aims to build a hospice and respite centre at Brackenhall for children with life-limiting conditions.
Anyone wanting to sponsor the runners can contact Lauren Moore, community fundraiser for the charity, on 01484 487570.
